This is why I do what I do…

blog
A few weeks ago I posted a blog (aka rant) about the misconceptions of CrossFit, it’s injury risks and cult like atmosphere in hopes of possibly convincing just one or two of the naysayers into trying out CrossFit (at any box, not just CFE). Instead I received the email below which touched my heart like no other email. Thank you (you know who you are) for reminding me that all the long hours and sleepless nights are worth every single minute!

“I too rolled my eyes and didn’t like crossfiters… They looked strong and had all this free time to do these exercising… And they tore acls and shoulders and meniscus rips and so on… So I went to a gym with a friend, I left and couldn’t move for a week. Messed up my Lower back deadlifting without prior instruction or knowledge. “Free first time class” I also pinched my sciatic nerve and felt pain for even longer, went to a chiropractor… I’m only in my 30’s!!! I love fitness, I’m in an emotional funk, single, hate my job, hate my body, lacked special friendships, have a small group of friends who are out of shape and drink way too much and that’s their social outlets…. My good friend posted a pic of her Crossfit body, I was in love, drove down Emmott road around the corner from my house, saw a banner… Wheels were turning…. Went in, met with Ann…. Your gym offers so much more than you know. So I’ll tell you…. Someone who has battled with unhappiness and depression… Someone who wants a forever fix and not a quick one…. I fell in love with the atmosphere, every coach helped me, every member helped me, they pushed, encouraged and spent an extra 5 min learning about me… These people stole my heart, they are a lot like me… I was able to feel happy, without a companion, for the first time in my life (maybe because I date Crossfit Equality!), it doesn’t take too much time away from my busy life, it built my confidence, got my fix on puppy loving, and made me stronger than ever, from the inside out. I no longer take antidepressants, took a leap of faith and left my position at the company I worked for and started going to things I was invited to… House stays cleaner, mind stays purer… Just thought you should know… I believe your gym changed my life… That’s all… Thank you”

Are you a member of CrossFit Equality? If so, how has CFE changed your life?

If you are not a member of CFE and are interested in changing your life for the better, email ann@crossfitequality.com for a free introductory session.

  1. For many different reasons I haven’t been able to keep the consistency I would have liked going t the box. However, ever since I started Crossfit, I can’t even think about doing anything different on a gym, and the sensation when you just haven’t been in a while and you start wondering how will you feel tomorrow or how the mates cheer you to finish the wod. It’s honestly priceless. I’m definitely coming back again and again until hopefully some day I don’t need to leave…by the way, I think the coaches are awesome in both sport and personal way. See you soon!

    1. Thank you for the kind words Isaac. Looking forward to the day you can stay with us longer! We miss you!!
