1 mile Run
1 mile Run
In memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005.
This workout was one of Mike’s favorites and he’d named it “Body Armor”. From here on it will be referred to as “Murph” in honor of the focused warrior and great American who wanted nothing more in life than to serve this great country and the beautiful people who make it what it is.
Partition the pull-ups, push-ups, and squats as needed. Start and finish with a mile run. If you’ve got a twenty pound vest or body armor, wear it.
Time: WOD starts at 10AM sharp!
Who: Bring your friends, family and neighbors – FREE for all members and guests!
Every year on Memorial Day, Americans honor those who have fallen serving in the United States Armed Forces. At CrossFit Equality, we have a tradition of supporting our troops by completing the workout “Murph” on Memorial Day.
The “Murph” Hero WOD is more than just a workout. It is a tradition that helps push us, humble us, and dedicate a bit of pain and sweat to honor a man who gave everything he had. Do not be discouraged by difficulty of the workout as we can scale the moments or divide the work into teams.
We will be serving lunch after the workout. Please RSVP so we can get an idea of how much grubs to bring! Comment below how many people you’re bringing along!
Murph: Honoring our Military!
– Are you active or former Military?
– Do you have Military in your family?
– Are there Military members you’d like to honor during Murph?
If any of the above questions pertain to you, please send a picture, name, rank and branch of your Military to email@example.com
We will post signs along our run route with names and pictures in honor of your Military. We’ll have a wall of honor the day of Murph for those that drop-in that day to post names of Military members. Wear your Red, White and Blue!
