I started at CrossFit Equality because I was looking for something new and different. I had been thinking about it for a year and I narrowed down between 3 boxes and chose Equality first. Glad I did.
I was nervous at first. New people, new movements and exercises, but excited to try it out. However that has changed and now I am not nervous anymore, just excited to try new things and happy to find a place that is like home!
Because of CrossFit I feel more confident and willing to try new things. I look forward to reaching new goals. It has also helped me make healthy life changes.
Outside of the gym I go out to my Mom’s place and help her keep it up (5 acres). I also travel and spend a lot of time with my family.
My favorite memory/story at CrossFit Equality…there are so many. Anytime someone does something for the first time it is exciting. Everyone cheering them on and the show of support is amazing. Trisha getting her first HSPU or deadlifting over 300lbs. mJB getting her first T2B.
One of my first WODs (workouts) was….can’t remember name but had 400m run, 30 box jumps and 30 wall balls, maybe 4 rounds. Could not do it all. Helen???? (But she can now!)
My proudest accomplishment in health and fitness was making the HISD All City First Team Volleyball team!
The best advice would you give to someone just getting started or new to CrossFit would be congratulations your quality of life is about to improve. The hardest part is over…you are here. Listen to your body, give it your all, and make lifelong friends.
Footnote: Nikki has lost over 15lbs since starting our nutrition program…talk about improving her quality of life! Congrats Nikki!!!
