The first step for every potential new CFE member is our No Sweat Introduction where we lay out a plan on how to provide them with the best program suited to meet their goals and abilities. During the No Sweat Intro the CFE staff will ask the potential new member if they have any kind of health issues, previous surgeries or injuries that the coaching staff needs to know about. Upon becoming a member their information is then passed along to the CFE coaching staff so that they are knowledgeable about the new members health issues or pre-existing injuries.
This leads me back to the topic of scaling, something I am sure you have heard your CFE coach mention a time or two. If your coach is aware ahead of time of an injury you have, we can have a plan in place from the start of class on how to give you the best workout suited for you. When coaching, I love being able to modify a workout so that it fits your goals and abilities.
For example, if I know Sally had a knee replacement surgery 8 months ago and 100 lunges are programmed in the workout, she would need to modify the movement. As her coach, I would suggest 60 box step-ups holding 2 medium weight dumbbells. This creates a very similar movement with less stress on the knees.
